Topography Man (2018-2024) is an experiment that aims to combine site-specific installation and animation. Topography Man’s tendency is to produce subliminal stories about “home.” Oykut’s themes are often the relationship between architecture and the human body, and how the two come together in the built environment. The production process, which began in 2018 in Beesenstedt/Germany for the Built Temporality exhibition within the scope of the 1st Tbilisi Architecture Biennale (2018), continued in Tbilisi at the Former KGB Building in Ghildani. Over time, Topography Man continued to produce itself within its own temporal process, and took its final form in 2024 with the addition of Ceren Oykut’s sound recording made in Kyrenia in 2014. Topography Man was selected in LINES FICTION – a project for animated drawings and films, curated by the artist Bettina Munk. The filmroll, created with the participation of 116 artists and art groups from all over the world, was exhibited at Kunstraum Kreuzberg Bethanien/Berlin between 16 November and 12 January 2024.
